Is the final draft of your book project ready for a professional editor? Before you hire an editor, take some time to answer a few questions about your book to help you save time and money in the process. Preferably, you have already answered these questions long before your final draft, but if not, take time now to ponder them. The result of this time well spent will provide focus for content building and keep you on track for a successfully published product.
1. What kind of book have you written, how-to, spiritual, business?
2. What purpose will it serve?
3. Who is your market and is there a market for it?
4. Why will someone buy your book?
5. What message do you wish to communicate to your reader?
6. Do you have an introduction, table of contents and chapter content?
7. Where are you now with your project, first draft, final draft, no clue?
8. What would you like an editor to do for you?
Before you look for an editor, ensure you have a good final draft and answers to the above questions. An editor can only help you if you are clear about your writing project and know what you want from them.
Next time, I will tell you about the different types of editing and what kind you may need.

Great questions. If every author asked themselves these questions, it would make not only your work, but the writers work easier. Your blog is great and vistors should be hugely grateful for your in-depth discussions.
